1. Question: What is Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana?
Answer: Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana is a poverty eradication plan by
the Government of India to provide self-employment through small industries.
The Plan is a combination of the earlier plans run by the Government of
India, such as IRDP, TRYSEM, DWKRA, Ganga Kalyan and the Improved Tool Kit
Plan.
2. Question: What is the eligibility for the plan?
Answer: The self-employed person should be from a BPL family and rural area.
3. Question: How is self-employment provided for under
the plan?
Answer: Selected BPL families in groups of 5-20 are financed for economic
activity through Self-help Groups.
4. Question: What is a Self-help Group?
Answer: A Self-help Group is a group of marked BPL families, whose numbers
can be from 5-20, and which deals in minor savings and mutual transactions.
5. Question: What types of facilities are extended to
the groups by the government?
Answer: Rs.25,000.00 in the form of government and Bank loan is made
available as Revolving Fund to a group after six months of its formation,
and upon qualifying the first grading. After the next six months, upon
qualifying the second grading, processing for Bank financing of economic
activities indicated by the group is facilitated.
6. Question: How much grant is payable under the plan?
Answer: Under the plan, a group is given Rs.10,000.00 per member and a
maximum of Rs.1.25 lakh. Rs.7500.00 is given to ordinary self-employed for
personal self-employment. The self-employed belonging to the Scheduled
Castes and the Scheduled Tribes are given Rs.10,000.00 per individual.
7. Question: How much loan from the Bank can be availed
under the plan?
Answer: Bank loan is payable as per the project cost. There is no minimum or
maximum limit prescribed.
8. Question: How can benefit be availed under the plan?
Answer: A BPL family member will have to apply through the group, and
personal self-employed to the development Block. Later, benefit can be
availed according to the prescribed procedure.
9. Question: Is the Revolving Fund returnable?
Answer: Yes. Revolving Fund has a credit limit, therefore it is compulsory
to return it after work is complete.
Gramin Awaas Yojana:
1. Question: What is Gramin Awaas Yojana?
Answer: Gramin Awaas Yojana is a plan to make pucca houses available to BPL
and homeless families dwelling in temporary hut/thatch-roof, in rural areas.
2. Question: What are the conditions for eligibility
under this plan?
Answer: Person/BPL family, who is homeless or living in temporary
hut/thatch-roof. Priority is accorded to freed bonded labour/Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe/disabled persons.
3. Question: What amount is payable for house
construction under the plan?
Answer: Rs.22,000.00 in mountainous and inaccessible areas and Rs.20,000.00
in the plains and Rs.10,000.00 for up-gradation of temporary house, is
payable.

Answer: This amount is given in the form of a grant. The remaining amount
has to be borne by the beneficiary in the form of labour or cash.

Answer: Yes. The above grant and houses are admissible to BPL families

Answer: The beneficiaries are selected out of homeless families on priority
basis, at general meetings of the Gram sabha.
Sampurna Gramin Rozgar Yojana:
1. Question: What is Sampurna Gramin Rozgar Yojana?
Answer: Sampurna Gramin Rozgar Yojana is a combination of the earlier Gram
Simraddhi Yojana and the Sunishchit Rozgar Yojana, and was started on 01
April, 2002.

Answer: Permanent construction in rural areas and employment-oriented works
are carried out under the plan.
